Where one colour meets another
Some colours only meet when you look slowly. The orange hidden in a bird’s breast, the green that changes its mind from leaf to leaf, the violet that turns up where no one expected it. That is where every drawing begins: at the exact point where one colour becomes another.
The work is done in coloured pencil, layer upon layer, until the paper stops being white and becomes light. It is slow work, because every feather, every gaze and every leaf asks for its own time, and it is in that time that the drawing comes alive.
